Inner Healing is the death of a "character structure". When that happens, that portion of our inner being FIGURATIVELY sinks "into the heart of the earth". Death of a portion of our "self" initiates a convulsion or deep shudder throughout our interior being. Such death is made sweet as the overwhelming presence of Jesus envelopes our hearts as we receive His healing touch.
